Ottawa Public Library

The Ottawa Public Library is hosting its second annual Short Story Contest for older adults this spring!

If you are 50 years or older and have a valid Library card, you may submit a maximum of two short stories in either English or French. Stories must be original, unpublished works under 2000 words in length. They will be judged by a jury of local authors on the following criteria: characterization, plot, setting and atmosphere, narrative voice, and mechanics.

Submissions will be accepted from May 5 to June 2, 2015 (until 11:59 p.m). Contest winners will be notified by e-mail or phone by June 30, 2015.

The winning authors will share a cash prize, to be presented at our "An Afternoon of Storytelling" event on September 16, 2015, during which these authors will read from their stories.
